My family purchased our eldest hermit crab, Bud, 18 years ago (suspected Coenobita Clypeatus). He currently resides with 9 tank mates of various smaller sizes, including our second largest, Spud, also Coenobita Clypeatus. The further 8 I suspect are mostly Rugosus species. When we first purchased hermit crabs those many years ago there was little to no correct information on keeping them and we lost a handful of young crabs in our first year. Finally we learnt enough information to keep Bud alive and well all these years and haven't lost a crab since.

I am not, in any way, whatsoever, an expert. I am a hobby keeper who simply wanted to give something back to this little creature that brings so many of us smiles. I hope to share some information that is helpful to even one hermit crab parent!
